Just a Kiss by Denise Hunter ~ Review

Just a Kiss (Summer Harbor #3)
Lucie's Review:

Riley Callahan isn't the same man that he was before he left for Afghanistan, and he's given up a lot, including his right leg.

His best friend Paige Warren is there with his family when he steps off the plane in Maine. His family has decided that since he can no longer do stairs that he will stay with Paige, who runs the local animal shelter that the town is threatening to shut down.

Riley has been in love with Paige for years, and he hates that she has to see him like this, and he's definitely not about to tell her how he feels now. As Paige fights to save the animal shelter and enlists Riley's help, will he find the healing that he needs?

Riley has been closed off since returning from Afghanistan and he throws himself into physical therapy, while avoiding counseling, and helping Paige along with the rest of his family.

I like that Paige has close friends to confide in about her struggles and the confusing feelings that she has for Riley. Great dialog moves the story, but there is still a lot left unsaid.

I loved returning to Summer Harbor and reconnecting with the Callahans from the previous books in the series. This is a great community romance, with so many people coming together to help their community. I loved how Riley and Paige rediscover and redefine their friendship, as they learn about moving on from the past and not being afraid to take a leap of faith.
