My Review:Rapunzel has lived her life as an outsider, moving from town to town, with her mother, never staying in one place for too long. She dreams of learning to read, and making her own way in the world. When they are attacked on the way to their new home, a daring and brace knight, Gerek comes to their rescue.
Gerek is brave, but prideful. He is determined to do well and make a name for himself in order to prove his older brother wrong. But his plan may prevent him from seeing that God's best is right under his nose.
A enchanting and mesmerizing tale, fast paced, as I turned the pages it quickly became a book that I could't put down. I've been hearing about Ms. Dickerson's books for years, but until this point hadn't gotten around to actually reading one of her books. Though through the years I have collected a few that I'm very much looking forward to reading now.
Compelling, re-telling with a more realistic spin to it, I liked how Rapunzel was clever and also very brave, quick to learn and catch on. Gerek was a knight with strong convictions and ideas about how to reach the goals he had set for himself.
Overall, a well written and exciting read, filled with many interesting characters that brought the story to life. I looked up the other books that I have by this author and seeing that they area about some of my favorite characters in this story, like Lady Rose, and her children, so I'm very excited to read those books! A wonderful read that satisfied my craving for a good old fashioned fairy tale, I would definitely recommend this book to lover fairy tales, and adventure!
