Double Cross by DiAnn Mills ~ Review

Double Cross (FBI: Houston, #2)Astor's Review:

Strap on your seat belt and get ready for an adventure!

When a seemingly simple scam targeting the elderly leads FBI Agent Laurel Evertson to her the ex-fiance that she put in prison five years ago, she doesn't know who to trust, but now Morton is her best lead.
Meanwhile Police Officer Daniel Hilton fears that his grandparents may be the next victims of the scam, so he and Laurel must work together. But when Daniel finds out something about Laurel, will he be able to trust her?

Good gracious! What a wild ride, I didn't not want to put this book down!!! From beginning to end, with tons of crazy twists along the way, this was an adventure that I will not soon forget. It had me guessing all the way, and I had no idea who to trust or who was behind it all.

This is a thrilling book that you will not want to miss! There were so many curves and twists along the way, just when I thought that I had it figured out, I found out that I was completely wrong!

I loved the suspense, intrigue and constant suspicion. This is probably the best book that I have ever read by Ms. Mills. The characters were so well developed, and the pace was breakneck. I don't want to give anything away, but this isn't something you will want to miss!!!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK

FBI Agent Laurel Evertson’s investigation into a scam targeting the elderly takes an unexpected twist when key evidence leads her to Morton Wilmington, a felon she arrested five years ago on her first undercover assignment. That case has haunted her since, and though she’s vowed to forget Wilmington—and what she sacrificed to put him away—he is now her best lead. Houston Police Officer Daniel Hilton fears his grandparents may be the scammer’s next targets, and he’ll do anything to protect his family—even force interagency cooperation. But he’s quickly drawn to Laurel’s empathy and zeal and agrees to follow her lead . . . even if it means teaming up with a felon. As the unlikely trio uncovers evidence suggesting the scam is more extensive and deadly than they imagined, both Laurel and Daniel find themselves in the crosshairs of a killer. Together they must decide if they can trust Wilmington’s claims of redemption, or if he’s leading them straight into a double cross.
