Dauntless by Dina L. Sleiman ~ Review

My Review: A fast paced adventure about a young woman, Merry, and her loyal band of children, that draws comparison to tales like Robin Hood.

Merry does her best to protect and provide for the  children in her care, even if those means are not always completely by an honest day's work. Timothy Grey is a the right hand man of  Lord Wyndeshire, and he has pledged  to bring down The Ghosts of Farthingale Forest.

A well written medieval tale, with a strong heroine. I loved getting know each of the children, through Merry's eyes, as they came into their own, and discovered their skills. Each child was well developed and completely endearing.

I really liked how there was some mystery to the characters, like Merry's past and what had happened to her that had brought her to where she was, I found that very interesting!

Overall, this was a wonderful adventure well worth the read, and engaging all the way through, until the very end. Highly recommend!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Where Legend and History Collide,
One Young Woman Will Fight for the Innocent

Born a baron's daughter, Lady Merry Ellison is now an enemy of the throne after her father's failed assassination attempt upon the king. Bold and uniquely skilled, she is willing to go to any lengths to protect the orphaned children of her former village--a group that becomes known as "The Ghosts of Farthingale Forest." Merry finds her charge more difficult as their growing notoriety brings increasing trouble their way.

Timothy Grey, ninth child of the Baron of Greyham, longs to perform some feat so legendary that he will rise from obscurity and earn a title of his own. When the Ghosts of Farthingale Forest are spotted in Wyndeshire, where he serves as assistant to the local earl, he might have found his chance. But when he comes face-to-face with the leader of the thieves, he's forced to reexamine everything he's known.
